Foraging behavior of fire ant Solenopsis saevissima (Smith) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Felis catus Linnaeus (Carnivora: Felidae) carcass
Solenopsis saevissima fire ants were found foraging in a Felis
catus carcass over tissues an secretions present in holes and
mucosa. The ants built a dirt-made physical structure around
the carcass, which prevented necrophagous flies from laying
eggs or larvae in the body. These observations are relevant
to increasing knowledge on the role of this ant genus in the
decaying process of other animal corpses, including humans
Reply to ‘Comment on “Dependence of shear wave seismoelectrics on soil textures: a numerical study in the vadose zone by F.I. Zyserman, L.B. Monachesi and L. Jouniaux” by Revil, A.’
In this paper we reply to a the comment made by Revil (2017) on our paper (2017, Geophys. J. Int., 208), where we describe seismoelectric phenomena in the vadose zone based on the theory of Pride empirically extended for unsaturated conditions. We analyse and answer each one of the enumerated critics, and reaffirm the conclusions of our work. In particular, we prove that using the conductivity model suggested by Revil (2017) does not change our predictions significantly, contrary to what was argued in the comment. Further, in the light of previous and new theoretical and experimental results existing in the literature, we confirm the reasonability of having tested a non-monotonic saturation dependent streaming potential coefficient model besides the monotonic one, and discuss the suitability of assuming a linear relation between the permeability and the excess charge.Fil: Zyserman, Fabio Ivan. A robust multivariate long run analysis of European electricity prices
This paper analyses the interdependencies existing in wholesale electricity prices in six major European countries. The results of our robust multivariate long run dynamic analysis reveal the presence of four highly integrated central European markets (France, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria). The trend shared by these four electricity markets appears to be common also to gas prices, but not to oil prices. The existence of long term dynamics among electricity prices and between electricity prices and gas prices may prove to be important for long term hedging operations to be conducted even in countries where well established and liquid electricity derivatives markets are not present. Since standard unit root and cointegration tests are not robust to the peculiar characteristics of electricity prices time series, we adapt and further develop a battery of robust inference procedures that should assure the reliability of our results.European electricity prices, Cointegration, Interdependencies, Equilibrium Correction model, Oil prices, Robustness
Deregulated Wholesale Electricity Prices in Europe
This paper analyses the interdependencies existing in the European electricity prices. The results of a multivariate dynamic analysis of weekly median prices reveal the presence of strong integration (but not perfect integration) among the markets considered in the sample and the existence of a common trend among electricity prices and oil prices. This implies that there are no long-run arbitrage opportunities. The latter result appears to be relevant also in the context of the discussion of efficient hedging instruments to be used by medium-long term investors.European electricity prices, Cointegration, Interdependencies, Equilibrium Correction model, Oil prices

Use of flight interception traps of Malaise type and attractive traps for social wasps record (Vespidae: Polistinae)
The literature provides different methodologies for sampling social
wasps, including, flight intercept trap type Malaise and Attractive
trap, however, there is no consensus on its use. In this respect, the
aim of this study was to evaluate the best use of Malaise traps and
Attractive trap in biodiversity work of social wasps, and generate a
collection protocol for the use of these traps. The study was conducted
in the Parque Estadual do Rio Doce, located in the east of the state
of Minas Gerais, in the years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004 and in the
Botanical Garden of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, located in
the southeastern state of Minas Gerais, in years 2011, 2012 and 2013.
15 species were collected using Malaise traps, and, 26 species of social
wasps were collected using Attractive traps. Although the negative
aspects of both traps, complementary methodologies surveys varying
social wasps are useful and it is recommended to choose for using in
accordance with the logistical field
Nonprehensile Dynamic Manipulation: A Survey
Nonprehensile dynamic manipulation can be reason- ably considered as the most complex manipulation task. It might be argued that such a task is still rather far from being fully solved and applied in robotics. This survey tries to collect the results reached so far by the research community about planning and control in the nonprehensile dynamic manipulation domain.
